Iterative Decoders for Multiuser 1S1

The goal of this work is to design and analyze the performance of various multiuser coding and iterative decoding methods for inter-symbol interference(ISI) networks. The introduction of turbo coding and iterative decoding [1] schemes have changed the coding and detection landscape drastically. The research efforts on turbo and turbo-like techniques continue on many fronts including deep-space communication, wireless systems and recording channels. However, most of the results are for single-user channels which do not suffer from inter-channel interference(ICI). This work extends the performance results for turbo coded schemes by investigating a more general multi-user 1S1 network. Our results show that turbo coded systems used in this work provide superior gains to uncoded system under both deterministic and stochastic ICI cases.
